Stables under water in storm

TUESDAY night’s storm turned Camperdown Riding Club’s stables and show ring into a four-foot deep lake. By 10 am yesterday the water level had dropped about a foot, but shortly before 2pm as volunteers hooked up pumps to pump the water into nearby shallow caves, the sky darkened and a light rain started to fall.

RUGBY CUCKOOS ARE CHAMPIONS THE Cuckoos continued their dominance this season with a 17-15 victory over Baillou to win the Bahamas Cup finale at Winton rugby pitch Saturday. Back in January, Cuckoos defeated Baillou 44-10 to clinch the Nassau Cup Trophy.

Optimist National Sailing Championships results

SEVENTY-six sailors (41 green fleet, 16 blue, 15 red, four white) ages 6-15 from New Providence, Grand Bahama, Long Island, Abaco, including Man ‘O’ War and Hope Town, Harbour Island and Eleuthera competed in the event. The Red fleet featured 13-15 year-olds, Blue Fleet 11-12 year-olds, White Fleet, 10-year-olds and Green Fleet for novice sailors up to age 15.
